ECREA’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) subcommittee of ECREA Governing Body is committed to working with the organisation's wider community to identify key EDI priorities to support its diverse member base and all our members’ recognition and inclusion in the organisation, its practices and activities.
We aim to support equity, diversity and inclusion across ECREA through recognition of people’s under-represented status in terms of age, disability, gender, ethnicity and race, religion and belief, sex and sexual orientation, as well as their academic status and working conditions, their parental status and parental and caring commitments.
EDI Subcommittee members are: Tereza Pavlíčková (chair), Tanya Lokot, Andreas Schuck, Małgorzata Winiarska-Brodowska, Dina Vozab, Jelena Kleut

"Given the recent budget cuts in higher education, this grant has been invaluable in supporting my ability to stay connected with communication scholars and gain insights from the latest research."
Shujun Liu, Cardiff University
"The EDI grant supported my participation in ECREA 2024, where I presented my paper on privacy perceptions in Turkey’s digital activist sphere. It was particularly rewarding to join the Media, Cities, and Space section, as it connects with my ongoing research on smart cities and urban space ethics. The discussions from all the sessions provided many insights that I look forward to incorporating into my research agenda."
Yusuf Yüksekdağ, Istanbul BilgUniversity
"My name is Silas Udenze. I am a postdoctoral researcher at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Barcelona, Spain. This year´s ECREA is one the best I have had. Thanks to Young ECREA grant, I was able to travel to Slovenia. And, of course, I was lucky to also receive the ECREA Equity, Diversity and Inclusion grant as a registration fee waiver. Thanks to these grants, this year´s conference has opened doors of collaboration for me. I am thrilled to share that I am working on a project with one of the networks I connected with during the event. I would say the future is encouraging!"
Silas Udenze, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, Barcelona
"I received the travel grant and accommodation grant from the ECREA Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) subcommittee. The grant made it possible for me to travel over 7,000 kilometers to attend an academic conference. Through this event, I learned some novel academic insights and experienced a friendly exchange atmosphere among scholars. This has strengthened my determination to apply for overseas PhD positions and to persevere in my academic path."
Jing Zhang, Communication University of China
